PNG or JPG? It depends on the page
Choose PNG when the page is text, a table, a chart, a diagram or line art. PNG is lossless, so hard black-on-white edges stay clean. JPG compresses by smoothing, which shows up as faint grey halos around letterforms — obvious once you notice it, and worse the more you enlarge.
Choose JPG when the page is mostly photographic. There the smoothing is invisible and the file is a fraction of the size, which matters if you are exporting a hundred pages.
Picking a resolution
Standard renders at roughly 1.5×, which is right for web pages, slides and anything viewed at normal size. High renders at roughly 2.5× — use it when the image will be printed, projected, or cropped and enlarged. Higher resolution means proportionally larger files, so don't reach for High by default.
