What you can do with a PDF here
The tools split into three jobs. Rearranging a document — merging, splitting, reordering, deleting, extracting and rotating pages. Changing what is on the page — editing text, adding images, signing, annotating and watermarking. And changing the file itself — compressing it, or converting between PDF and image formats.
Every one of them runs in your browser rather than on a server, so there is no upload step, no queue, no file-size ceiling set by somebody else, and no copy of your document sitting in storage waiting for a retention policy to delete it.
Why in-browser processing matters for PDFs
PDFs are where the sensitive documents live: contracts, invoices, medical letters, tax returns, passports, signed agreements. The standard model for a free online PDF tool is to upload your file, process it on a server and delete it later — which means the document leaves your control, however briefly, and however honest the policy.
Running the work locally removes the question. Modern browsers can parse, rewrite and re-save a PDF without any server involvement, which is what these tools do. The file is read from your disk, changed in memory and written back out as a download.
