Turning pages into images

Each page is rendered into a JPG at a resolution well above screen size, so the result stays sharp when it is placed in a slide, posted online or printed at a normal document size. Pages come back as separate images in the original page order, bundled into a ZIP when there is more than one.

JPG is the right choice when the pages are photographic or when the file needs to be small and universally openable. For diagrams, screenshots and pages that are mostly crisp text on white, PDF to PNG gives cleaner edges with no compression fringing.

What converting to an image costs you

An image is pixels. The text on the page stops being text: it can no longer be selected, copied or searched, screen readers cannot read it, and it softens if someone enlarges it well beyond its rendered size. Links and form fields stop working too.

That is a fair trade when you want a picture of a page, and a poor one when you are trying to make a document smaller — for that, use the PDF compressor, which keeps the text intact. Keep the original PDF either way: an image cannot be turned back into a real text document without OCR.
