Converting video and audio online normally means uploading a very large file, waiting in a queue behind everyone else, and hoping the free tier's size limit is generous enough. It is the slowest category of online tool for exactly that reason: the file has to travel twice before any work starts.
These tools run the media engine inside your browser, compiled to WebAssembly. Conversion begins the moment you drop a file in, the speed depends on your own processor rather than server load, and nothing is transmitted — which matters for client work, personal video and anything under embargo.
Choosing a format
- MP3
- Universal audio compatibility. If a device plays sound, it plays MP3. The safe choice for sharing.
- M4A / AAC
- Better quality than MP3 at the same bitrate, and native across modern and Apple devices.
- WAV and FLAC
- Lossless. WAV for editing pipelines, FLAC for archiving music at about half the size.
- MP4
- The video container everything accepts, which is why MOV files so often need converting.
- JPG and PNG
- JPG for photographs and small files, PNG for screenshots, logos, diagrams and anything needing transparency.
- WebP
- Noticeably smaller than JPG or PNG for web use, with support in every current browser.
The metadata tools
Photographs carry hidden fields alongside the pixels: GPS coordinates precise enough to identify a building, capture timestamps, camera serial numbers, editing software, and increasingly AI provenance tags. Social platforms usually strip them; email, messaging apps and upload forms frequently do not.
Check what an image is carrying before you publish it, strip what you would rather not share, or write your own author and copyright fields into work you are publishing. All three run in your browser — which is the point, since uploading a photo to find out whether it reveals your address rather defeats the exercise.
Frequently asked questions
Are these video, audio, and image tools really free?
Yes. Every tool is free with no sign-up, no page limits and no watermark on the output.
Do you upload my files to a server?
No. All tools process your files locally in your browser using WebAssembly and HTML5, so your videos, audio, and images stay entirely on your device.
Why does video processing take longer than image tools?
Audio and video are re-encoded on your own device, which is more intensive than converting an image. Image conversions (like PNG to JPG) are nearly instant because they use lightweight HTML5 Canvas.
What about very large video files?
Because everything runs in your browser, very large files are limited by your device's memory. Files up to a few hundred MB work well on most modern computers and phones.
