Converting between Office formats and PDF
Word, Excel and PowerPoint files are editable documents whose appearance depends on the machine opening them — the fonts installed, the application version, the screen. PDF is the opposite: a fixed rendering that looks identical everywhere and cannot be changed by accident.

Text-led documents — reports, letters, contracts, CVs — convert well and are immediately editable. Complex, heavily designed layouts come back needing a tidy-up. Scanned pages recover nothing at all without OCR first, because there are no characters in the file to find.
