iPhones save photos as HEIC, which most Windows PCs, Android devices and websites can't open. Converting to PNG fixes that compatibility problem — and unlike JPG, PNG is lossless, so the converted image is stored pixel-for-pixel with no compression artifacts.

That makes HEIC → PNG the right choice when you plan to edit the photo, drop it into a design or document, or need the crispest possible copy. If you just want a small file to email or share, HEIC → JPG is usually the better pick, since PNG copies of photos are noticeably larger.

Your HEIC photo is decoded and re-saved as a PNG entirely in your browser, with no uploads, so even personal photos stay on your own device. Drop in a whole camera roll export and every photo converts in the same batch — no per-file limit beyond your browser's memory.

This works the same way regardless of where the HEIC came from — an iPhone AirDropped photo, a Mac Photos library export, or a HEIC attachment opened on Windows or Android. Because the conversion runs locally, there's no app to install and no account needed on any of them.
