Converting more than one photo at a time

Why choose PNG over JPG here
A JPG re-compresses the photo, and each subsequent save in an editor compresses it again. PNG holds every pixel exactly as decoded from the HEIC, so your working copy stays pristine through any number of edits.
PNG also supports transparency — relevant the moment you cut a subject out of its background.
Mind the file size
Lossless photos are big: a 2 MB HEIC can easily become a 15–25 MB PNG. That's expected — HEIC's efficiency is what you're trading away for editing safety. For photos you only want to view or share, HEIC to JPG produces far smaller files.
